Pune, Feb 14(ANI): Doctors at the Sassoon Hospital in Pune are working hard to treat the victims of the bomb blast at the German Bakery, which claimed nine lives and injured about 50 others on Saturday.

The blast is being seen as the first big attack on the country since the 26/11, 2008 Mumbai massacre.

"In total, 18 patients had come of which two were not serious as they had very few injuries, so they were immediately discharged. But rest of the 16 were kept in hospital. Of them, only one was critical who was kept in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and then nine patients went DAMA, which is Discharge Against Medical Advice," said Deepa Lad, Senior Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at Sassoon Hospital.

"They went. Still, we have six patients with us at the hospital and total deceased, who were brought dead here immediately after blast were six, who were sent to the mortuary," she added.

The explosion came a day after India and Pakistan agreed to meet for high-level talks in New Delhi on February 25.

Police said the bomb was hidden in a bag left in the German bakery, a favourite of Jewish and European visitors, when it was full of tourists on Saturday evening. (ANI)
