WHAT MY SYMPTOMS TEACH ME: PAIN

Discussion started by Fernando B. , on 10 December 05:04 AM
We all ran away from pain. In fact, pain usually gives us a fright. But curiously pain is merely a common symptom. In addition, its purpose is not to punish me or you, but to communicate the effective way that something is wrong.

Pain could be described as a defense mechanism, a protection system which tries to avoid a greater evil. In fact, having the pain control mechanism defective may involve the appearance of serious corporal injuries, because situations that are real threats to the welfare of the body are not properly detected.

In terms of neurological diseases, you can see the connection of pain with both 1. movement disorders and 2. musculoskeletal disorders.

? Movement disorders: Its origin is the lack of control, which causes a general imbalance. It is as if life encourages us to be more spontaneous, not to take everything as planned in advance.
? Musculoskeletal disorders: There occur frequent spasms, cramps and joint stiffness. This usually means such a state of rigidity, resistance to changes and also to movement. They also involve excessive protection due to considering new situations as dangers.

Maybe it’s time to stop considering pain as an enemy and start to watch it as a counselor, a wise one.
